Growing up in South San Francisco, April Suarez was captivated by the world of fashion and beauty through the lens of her two older sisters. She watched them apply makeup—not so much inspired by their techniques, but by the transformative power of makeup itself. Fueled by curiosity and creativity, she bought her first beauty products from a local drugstore: a blue mascara and a blue eyeliner. This marked the beginning of her artistic journey.

Though makeup was always a passion, she initially viewed it as a hobby rather than a career. Instead, she pursued formal art education at The Academy of Art University, exploring Fine Art, Graphic Design, and Illustration. It wasn’t until she took a makeup class in the School of Motion Pictures that she realized her career potential. Here she began collaborating with fellow students on creative projects.

Seeking to immerse herself further in the beauty industry, April joined MAC Cosmetics, where she found a community of like-minded artists who shared her enthusiasm. During her 13 years at MAC, she became a certified pro artist and took on leadership roles, managing the MAC Pro location in San Francisco. She also lent her skills to fashion shows at The Academy of Art and The DeYoung Museum, further refining her expertise in high-fashion and editorial makeup.

With years of experience in both artistry and leadership, April has cultivated a versatile skill set. This includes camera-ready makeup, glamour, natural beauty, skincare, bridal, theatrical, costume, airbrush, body painting, and drag makeup.

Currently, April commits her time as a freelance makeup artist, working closely with photographers and collaborating on motion picture and fashion photography projects. While she keeps a keen eye on the latest beauty trends, she also draws inspiration from the past, reviving classic aesthetics to craft looks that are both unique and timeless.

For April, makeup is more than just application—it’s storytelling. Every look she creates is designed around her client's unique features, infused with emotion, and tailored to convey a distinct mood. She never replicates the same design twice. Instead, she intuitively channels the energy of each client, customizing colors and styles to bring out their essence.
